The South Bossier bus route is closer to the truth

BOSSIER CITY, La. - A new bus route south of Bossier City may be approaching after the next Bossier City Council meeting.

The council and the leaders of SporTran will meet on Tuesday to offer a hearing on the new bus route south of Bossier.

The new trail will start near the Louisiana Boardwalk and run all the way to Parkway High School. Most of that will be near Barkdale Boulevard, with about 15 stops south of Bossier.

The city and SportTran plan to learn what will happen in the next nine months. That includes assessing the need for space.

"Therefore, for a nine-month trial, we will look at passenger numbers, passenger counts and find the need for service. I think by this time we have about 15 new stops to add to Bossier in the south," he said. Dinero Washington, chief executive of SporTran.

"If you want to see the route, we made it live on our SporTranbus.com website. You can see all the routes, all the information. The route will start at the Shreveport / Bossier transfer hub, across the Louisiana Boardwalk and we will continue to Parkway High School before turning around and taking Theague Parkway again. we went back down to Barkdale Boulevard to make sure we were providing adequate support to the area, "Washington said.

Washington said he expected the trial to be approved by the Bossier City Council on Tuesday. If that happens, people can start boarding the bus on June 13th.
